Makeup Of The Week: Winter Wonderland!

Today is the official launch of Miss Motives Makeup of The Week! I am SO excited about this new feature, I can barely stand it! Shelby and I have been working hard on some awesome looks to share with you! Each week, we will show you a new look and how to achieve that look. Not only will it be makeup, but it will be a whole outfit as well.

In honor of all the amazing blizzards and chilly weather we have been having lately, this week we are starting off with a Winter Wonderland theme.

Shelby’s Look For The Week:

1: Prime lid along with light neutral tab color on your entire eyelid. Served as a base color. There is no picture for step 1.

2: Lay a darker, warm brown into your crease, blending out and up as much as you want.

3: Create a cut crease by applying a gold to your lid only, make sure you stop before the crease

4: Use a very light beige color as a highlight on your brow bone and also by your tear duct, if desired.

5: Take the same brown you used in Step 2 and add it right below your lower lash line

6: Using a Q-tip, wet it with makeup remover and clean up underneath your eye, making the lines look sharp and defined

7: Using liquid eyeliner create a winged look that goes out past your eye

8: Apply lashes, if desired.

9: Blend your natural lashes into the false ones using a mascara with a finer brush. Make sure you don’t apply much mascara to the false lashes as they will get clumpy.

Through all this cold, icky weather, it’s obviously hard to get some sun.

1. Apply a gorgeous bronzer, like Miami Glow, to your cheeks, hairline, and jawline.

2. Add a little color to the apples of your cheeks. A great natural blush is Flushed.

Keeping things neutral with a pop of color is not only simple and quick, but classy and gorgeous. I love La La’s Mineral Lip Shine in Big Apple.

For this look, I’d personally stick with a neutral color like Vintage, so all attention is drawn to my eyes.

Now, for the rest of your look…

I’m always running late so I need a “do” that’s quick, easy, but still super cute. My go to hair-do is a simple messy bun on top of my head. It’s up, out of my face, and I’m still able to wear a cute headband to keep me warm!

What to wear…

Since it’s cold, it is necessary to keep warm. An over-sized sweater, fun scarf, and cute boots will be a perfect outfit. Throw on a cute headband and some gloves (and of course a jacket), and you’re good to go!

Even in this weather, there’s still plenty of ways to look and feel good without having to put too much effort into it.

Motives Monday: Daydream!

I was in Miami for Market America’s World Conference just a couple weeks ago. At the convention, Motives released a new spring collection. I am absolutely in love with this collection. The pastels are beautiful and are a great introduction to spring. Today’s feature is one of the new Motives collections spring polishes, Daydream. The color is so light and refreshing, I just love it.

Motives Monday: Mineral Mascara!

I am totally obsessed with La La’s Mineral Mascara from Motives for La La. This mascara is by far my favorite. My lashes are full, long, and individual. Not only does it make my lashes look completely and utterly gorgeous, it also is good for my lashes because it is made out of minerals. Mineral mascaras are hard to find on the market, but this one surpasses the rest.

The color I have on is black, but it also comes in brown.

Motives Monday: Tonic Nails!

As I told you all last post that I am really excited to bring some new additions to Miss Motives this year. Well today is the first day for one of the additions on my wishlist! Presenting to you, Motives Monday! Each Monday I will feature one product from the Motives by Loren Ridinger or Motives for La La cosmetic line.
This week I’m going to start with my most recent nail polish obsession, the color Tonic from the Motives for La La Nail Lacquer! It’s such a bright, rich color and guaranteed to stand out above the rest. Being in the dead of winter up here, I most definitely needed a pick me up and this was the perfect go-to polish. This polish goes on beautifully, is chip-resistant and gives your fresh nails a flawless, glossy finish. It’s a similar polish formula to the well-known brand, Essie. But in my opinion our Motives Nail Lacquer line is absolutely outstanding and less expensive than many of the popular nail polish brands on the market.

Welcome, Shelby!

While my blog was a total success for it’s first year being “alive”, I knew that there was so much more potential with Miss Motives. Well, today I am happy to announce one of those awesome additions!

In the past couple months I have discovered some amazing talent in my area from a girl I’ve known for years. Her name is Shelby and she has quite the talent for makeup artistry. After chatting with her about our mutual passion, I realized that I need to have this girl a part of my blog as soon as possible. So with that being said, please welcome my newest guest blogger, Shelby.

Waving Goodbye to 2012!

Today’s post is going to be a long one, but my favorite post yet. Thinking about all the things that I have done in this past year makes me realize how much I have accomplished. As I look through the past pictures of 2012, I couldn’t be happier with the decisions I made, the things I did, and the life I’ve lived. I am so pleased with my life and so proud of who I have grown into. I’m happy to share with you my highlights of the past year.

Take a walk with me down memory lane of 2012:

I experienced my first State Dance Competition as a Dance Coach of the Fargo North Spartacas with Amy.

Attended my first Market America World Conference in Miami, Florida. It was also my first time in Miami. I was lucky enough to meet my idols Loren Ridinger, the creator of Motives Cosmetics and La La Anthony during the convention as well. My mom and I both went to the convention and we got to meet her idol, Lydia Martinez.

I finally started my very own blog. It was a goal of mine for such a long time and I am so happy I went with it. It has been a wonderful addition to my life.

I was honored enough to be chosen as the makeup artist for a brides wedding. This was my first wedding and I was so happy with the end results of each person’s makeup.

My boyfriend and I were the lucky winners of free photo shoot by Carly Loves Amos Photography. I am STILL ecstatic about how they turned out. I couldn’t be happier.

My brother and boyfriend were wonderful enough to drive with me across the country to move from North Dakota to San Diego, for the summer. It was the best road trip I have ever taken. They stayed for a week and helped me settle into my new surroundings.

I was surprised at my job Everything But Water, a designer swimwear company, with balloons and edible flowers for my birthday! All the way from ND!

I got to spend my 21st birthday in San Diego, California. We spent the day driving to Temecula, also known as wine country to have my first legal drink as well as my first time at winery. It was amazing… and it was 9:00 in the morning.

We then went to a outdoor spring spa in Corona, California. It was seriously the best birthday ever.

And then to top my golden birthday off, (21st birthday on June 21st), my aunt and her roommate threw a backyard party for me serving me my favorite food in the entire world, crab.

My birthday didn’t end on the 21st. On that Saturday, my aunt threw me a 90’s pub crawl in Pacific Beach in San Diego. She invited all of her friends and it was such a blast. I dressed up as Scary Spice, my aunt dressed up as Marge Simpson, and my aunt’s roommate dressed up as a Baywatch Babe. And I got to meet Nate from the Real World San Diego. Seriously – it was too much fun. 🙂

While in San Diego, I got to make some amazing connections, especially ones in the cosmetic and wedding industry. I was chosen as a model for some inspiration shoots. They were such a blast.

Just living in California was accomplishment for me. Another dream checked off my list.

Met a best in Laguna Beach, California.

This years 4th of July was much different from the usual. We got to spend it on a friend’s rooftop beach house in San Diego.

This year, my favorite little person in the entire world was born, Austin James Friesz. He is fighting for his life, yet smiles more than anyone I know. I love you Austie, always praying and thinking of you.

I was missing my family so much during the summer that I got to surprise my brothers during a family vacation in Denver, Colorado!

I attended my first Market America International Convention in Greensboro, North Carolina. This time was even more special because I was able to spend it with not just my mom, but two of my business partners as well. I also got to meet Anchal Joseph from America’s Next Top Model. She was such a sweetheart.

Enjoyed my senior homecoming at North Dakota State University with my love. The NDSU Bison are off to another championship! Game day is on January 5th!!

As many of you know, I’ve been doing a lot of modeling throughout the year. I’ve been working a lot with E-Vanity, and other wedding events in the area. Very happy about that and am excited to continue modeling in 2013.

I’ve been very happy about getting Motives Cosmetics into the area. We’ve been featured on our campus news and have attended amazing trainings during the year as well. I CANNOT wait for more!!

The last couple weeks before the end of the year I was able to spend time with my favorite people in the world. These people are my everything and I am so blessed to have them. My wonderful family and my amazing boyfriend. Blessed I tell you, blessed.

I cannot wait to see what 2013 has in store.

Tis’ The Season

I know I’ve said this before, but THIS shoot with E-Vanity was my absolute favorite. As always, I absolutely LOVED my outfits, but this shoot was special because I am wearing my absolute favorite makeup line, Motives Cosmetics.

I am always so happy with how Motives photographs. It’s so simple, so clean, yet gorgeous and flawless. Knowing that my every day makeup looks amazing both in person and in a picture, is the best feeling.

A Fashion Salute with E-Vanity!

Stud, stud, stud! Anything stud! I am so in love with studs on clothing and accessories, it’s ridiculous. I feel like they bring out the edgier side of me.
